SANTIAGO, March 25 (Xinhua) — Chile recorded 8,247 COVID-19 infections and 75 deaths in the last 24 hours, for a total of 3,434,908 cases and 56,222 deaths, the Ministry of Health said Friday.
It also detailed that there were currently 35,824 active cases in the South American country.
In addition, the 24-hour COVID-19 positivity rate was 8.38 percent nationally and 7.5 percent in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, reflecting a lower circulation of the virus.
Infections have declined by 42 percent in two weeks across the country, with all Chilean regions seeing a drop in cases.
Meanwhile, the southern region of Aysen had the highest incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants.
