BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday exchanged congratulatory messages with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In his message, Wang said that since the establishment of bilateral ties 60 years ago, China-Cuba relations have made substantial progress with solid political mutual trust, fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields and mutual support in international and regional affairs, becoming a model of solidarity and cooperation among developing countries.
China and Cuba have worked side by side to fight COVID-19 and achieved remarkable results, demonstrating the unique friendship between the two countries, Wang added.
The Chinese diplomat said he is willing to work with his Cuban counterpart to strengthen communication and coordination, implement the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, boost exchanges between the two countries’ foreign ministries, and push for new development of bilateral relations at a new historical starting point, while at the same time continuing to strengthen strategic communication and collaboration in order to make new important contributions to world peace and development.
Rodriguez said in his message that the Cuban side is willing to continue to promote political dialogue and cooperation between the two foreign ministries and strengthen mutual coordination and support on issues concerning the common interests of both sides in international affairs.
Cuba is deeply honored to contribute to the development of relations between Latin America and the Caribbean region and China, added Rodriguez.
