EU to send medical supplies to Ecuador, El Salvador and Bangladesh

Brussels, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) The European Union (EU) will send medical supplies and personal protective equipment to Ecuador, El Salvador and Bangladesh this week to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, acccording to a community source.
‘The EU’s global response is helping to tackle the pandemic on multiple fronts,’ assured Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, at announcing France’s aid to those three nations.

Through the Civil Protection Mechanism, in response to a request from Kenya, Slovakia sent 20,000 protective facemasks, 50,000 diagnostic kits, hand sanitizers and laboratory supplies to the country, as Lenarcic confirmed.

Upon return to Europe, the Slovakian flight will repatriate community citizens stranded in the African nation due to the closure of airports in Covid-19 crisis.

Protection equipment, tests and other materials prove to be vital to stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which infected over 16.5 million people, and the world’s death toll exceeds 655,000 and that of recoveries from Covid-19 outnumbers 9.5 million people.

The Mechanism coordinated to aid 24 countries, including seven EU member States, in addition to bilateral offers, according to the European Commission.
